Residents of Jeju Island begin protesting the upcoming elections in South Korea
Residents of Jeju island (제주도) begin protesting the upcoming election, hosted by the United Nations Temporary Commission on Korea (UNTCOK). Korean representatives from both the North and the South were never invited to address the UN regarding the matter of division. This election was held in 1948 and involved only the Southern half of the peninsula.

Lyuh Woon-hyung is assassinated by Han Ji-geun, a member of Baekuisa
Lyuh Woon-hyung (Yo Un-hyong) is assassinated by Han Ji-geun, a member of secret society for White Terror, Baek-ui-sa (백의사, White Shirts Society). The Baekuisa is a far-right, fascist, anti-communist group that is funded by the US Counter-intelligence Corp (CIC).
