Korean Communism

This website has been created to present to the general english-speaking public the history of the Korean communist movement. It contains information from the 1800s until present day.

The movement begins as early as 1918, with socialist parties set up in Khabarovsk and Irkutsk by both russianized Koreans and Koreans-in-exile.

Notable figures from the earliest movement are people such as Alexandra Kim, Yi Tong-hwi (이동휘), and Pak Chin-sun (박진순). Other important figures in the movement include Lyuh Woon-hyung (여운형) and Kim Il-sung (김일성).

Interesting events such as the Alexeyevsk Incident or The Congress of the Toilers of the Far East are documented in detail. The Korean War is also covered, and effort has been made to present available information about the DPRK.

Important and relevant media, such as documentaries or movies, are presented in the Media section.

The Archives contains a collection of gathered texts and excerpts that I want to preserve, such as the speech delivered by Pak Chin-sun (박진순) titled The Revolutionary East and the Immediate Problems of the Communist International.

There is an Index site map provided for easy reference. The Index page excludes posts from the Timeline.
